I've experienced this alot... things can only last so long. the xbox controllers being one of them. I recently purchased the NEW controllers, the completely glossy, chrome guide button, no more problems! its just getting old bro, get a new controller, or disassemble it, and take some air duster, (compressed air in a can) to all the nooks and crannys on the inside of the controller, and see if it fixes the problem. Good luck!
