The picture looks pretty resentful, and accurate, but I'm not 100% positive, because it may have just been edited. I've seen people who make things like this, so it might, or might not be fully accurate. We'll keep an eye out here on TTG, and if we figure out its accurate, we'll make sure to tell you!

Looks like a Napalm Death album cover.
There has been lots of discussion over what the Wuderwaffe is. The term was used for anything that was in the R&D stage of development by the Germans during the latter stages of WWII. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] The one that fits the best for our Zombie game is the Zielgerät 1229 (ZG 1229), also known as the Vampir [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] It was an active near IR system that was mounted on a rifle, most often an STG 44. The system consisted of a near IR light, which fit on top of the scope, a Gen I starlight scope, and a battery pack that was worn on the operators back. This allowed the operator to see in the hours of limited visibility (Night). The system is an active near IR system which means that in order for the scope to work an outside illumination source must be used.
FYI, most of the Soviet NVG's are active near IR while all of the US/UK NVG systems are passive. "Passive" near IR means that no man made illumination source is needed for it to work.
The only reason that I can see that they have put this in the game is to allow a player to see in the dark and engage the zombies better. There could be any number of reasons for this.
1. There are very few places where there is illumination on the map (fires or lights)
2. There are periods when the lights go out or the fires are extinguished
3. If there are buildings on the map they could possibly have no lights and you would need this weapon to go through them.
4. The map is illuminated by flares being fired from outside of the camp. As you progress the flares get less and less and have a lower burn time
All of this is purely speculation,
Just my .02
Groovy

THIS IS NOT THE GUN -.-
Everybody keeps posting this picture saying thats it but nobody bothers to read under the picture on the website.
Yes it is a wunderwaffe but it is not the wunderwaffe DG-2.
I wish people would stop posting this picture because everybody is going insane saying "I know what the new gun looks like!" but the truth is that you dont have a clue and nobody does.
WE WONT KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TILL THEY WANT US TO!!!
