Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Information

Release Date: 11/20/11
Developer: Nintendo
Genre: Action-Adventure Game
Platforms: Wii
Multiplayer: None
ESRB: E 10+ (Animated Blood, Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence)

Synopsis

In the chronology of the series, Skyward Sword is a prequel to Ocarina of Time and elaborates on the origins of the Master Sword and Ganondorf.[8][17] According to legend, after the creation of Hyrule, the Triforce was entrusted by the Golden Goddesses Din, Farore and Nayru to the deity known as Hylia. However, the Demon King Demise gathered an army to take the Triforce for his own evil intent. Using her power to create the floating islands called Skyloft to keep the Hylians and the Triforce safe, Hylia and the remaining tribes battle Demise's horde before the demon is defeated.
The plot begins many years after and follows an incarnation of the protagonist Link who was born and raised in Skyloft who begins to have dreams of a strange figure. Woken up by his childhood friend Zelda, Link gets ready for the Wing Ceremony, a tradition to acknowledge one as knight. Link completes the ceremony after overcoming the attempts of a classmate, Groose ( Bado?), to sabotage him. However, Zelda is then taken in by a storm which sucks her down to the still demon-infested Hyrule. Soon after, Link learns that the figure is Fi ( Fai?), the spirit of the Goddess Sword which Hylia created in case the evil she defeated was to stir again. With guidance from an elderly woman in the Sealed Shrine, Link pursues Zelda to the Skyview Spring where he encounters the Demon Lord Ghirahim who is responsible for Zelda's predicament. However, tracking her down to the Earth Spring, Link learns that Zelda is being protected by a mysterious woman named Impa. It is later at the Lanayru Mines that Link receives the Goddess Harp from Zelda as she and Impa depart into the past through a Gate of Time before it is destroyed during the fight with Ghirahim. Later, when Groose ends up following him to the surface before fighting the monster known as the The Imprisoned, the elderly woman advises Link to seek out three sacred flames of the Golden Goddesses in order to increase the power of his sword to activate the second Gate of Time within the temple.
Along the way, he also strengthens his spirit through the trials set by the three Goddesses. Once all three flames are infused into it, the Goddess Sword transforms into the Master Sword and he is able to enter the Gate of Time, arriving in the time period where Demise was just recently sealed away by the Goddess. Zelda reveals she is the reincarnation of Hylia herself; her trip to the springs meant to restore her past life's memory before traveling back in time to enter a deep sleep in order to keep Demise's seal active so that The Imprisoned, Demise's cursed form, can not break free. She tasks Link to search for the Triforce hidden in Skyloft to destroy Demise. Once acquiring the complete Triforce in the present, Link uses its power to crush The Imprisoned under the descending Isle of the Goddess. Soon after, Zelda awakens from her slumber and is reunited with Link and Groose. However, the reunion is cut short by Ghirahim as he kidnaps Zelda before entering the Gate of Time, intending to resurrect Demise in the past.
Despite Link's attempt to stop him, Ghirahim succeeds sacrificing Zelda's life force to The Imprisoned. It reverts into Demise, who reveals Ghirahim to be his sword. He challenges Link to battle, being impressed with the youth's bravery. Link manages to mortally wound Demise in their epic battle, giving Zelda back her soul in the process. In his final words, Demise swears that his hatred will be reborn and haunt the descendants of Link and Zelda for all time before he disperses into a mist which is then absorbed by the Master Sword. With her mission done, Fi asks Link to place the Master Sword into the shrine's pedestal while she enters a deep sleep. Link and Zelda also say their goodbyes to Impa, who is revealed to be of this time and must watch over the Master Sword to ensure Demise's destruction. The two and Groose return to the present where the elderly woman reveals herself to be Impa before she finally passes on after fulfilling her duty. After saying their good byes to Groose, Zelda admits to Link that she wishes to stay in Hyrule, and Link decides to stay as well.

Gameplay

In Skyward Sword, the common gameplay of exploring dungeon to dungeon and "alternating overworlds" is back again, as present in basically every other game in the series. A nice edition to battles in Skyward Sword is how the battle is focused on not only the timing of the attack, but the direction you attack in as well. Some unique items have been added to the game, such as the mechanical flying beetle, which can be used to grab at the enemies from far away. The whip has also been introduced in this game, and is, a very nice feature. Of course, the classic items from previous Zelda games have made a return, such as the bow, the slingshot, bombs, etc. Also, a upgrade system has been introduced in Skyward Sword. When you collect items from enemies you have defeated, you can upgrade your equipment (e.g. wooden shield). There has also been a stamina meter added to allow you to run and sprint up walls. Additionally, when you drink any kind of health potions, it doesn't stop the game, and makes the gameplay run more smoothly. The maps that are provided have been improved so you can read them easier, which fortunately helps from getting lost, as was the case in previous games. The "heads-up" display can now be disabled if you wish.

Graphics

For Skyward Sword, the graphics weren't drastically improved, but you can see a difference between other games. You also have to consider that they are trying to pull the best graphics they can out of the Wii, which is quite difficult, as the Wii didn't meet my graphic standard. For graphics, they are the best they can be for the game. Not bad graphics, but not entirely the best.

Controls

With the edition to the Wii Motion Plus to the game, it makes playing the game much more exciting and enjoyable. Here are the controls for the game:

Overall Comments

I think that Skyward Sword definitely marks its chapter in the Zelda series as an important one, but, in my opinion, it doesn't beat Ocarina of Time. It's a fantastic game, on the other hand. It's got the best graphics the game could get out of it, amazing gameplay, and the storyline is very engaging. Fantastic work!

Overall Rating: 9/10

This game is definitely a game I would buy, and one I would recommend buying! It's fun for anyone of any age! You won't be disappointed in this game!

Madden 12

Release Date: August 30, 2011
Developers: EA Tiburon
Publishers: EA Sports
Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP, Apple Products
Genre: Sports Simulation
Players: 4 Players, Multiplayer
Rating (ESRB): E (EVERYONE)

Synopsis

Madden NFL 12 is an American football video game based on the National Football League published by EA Sports and developed by EA Tiburon. It was released on August 30, 2011 in North America and September 2, 2011 in Europe. It was available on August 27, 2011 to EA Sports Season Ticket subscribers for a 3 day trial.

The demo was released on August 9, featuring a game between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

Gameplay/Graphics

The gameplay of this game is so realistic, for the few past years the Madden series have not lived up to the expectation of sports game of the year, in the past they have won this award many times. This game is "The One" to bring madden back up to award winning standards. The graphics of this game is AMAZING, last years game started back off with good graphics because like I said in the past Madden EPICLY failed. The best thing I thing I like about additions to the game (about graphics) is the 3D Grass and how realistic it is in this years game, in the past it would just look like astro turf (which is basically carpet) and they spent so much time on how realistic the way each individual player plays this tops everything added to the game.

Graphics/Gameplay Rating: 10

Multiplayer

In the past every EA Sports Game that you would play would have a VERY bad lag for the multiplayer, which was a game ruiner for many online players. In this year's madden EA Sports have upgraded their servers directly for this game alone, as a result there is little to no lag. The only thing I see wrong there is still that old "host advantage" but this happens in every multiplayer game but for a sports game its really "cheap" and hopefully in updates they can make a dedicated hoster. Another cool thing thats not new is when you play online it updates your roster to a current time roster.

Multiplayer Rating: 9

Battle for the cover

Each year EA Sports picks a person to be on the cover of their game. This year the was between well known Eagles QB Mike Vick and Browns running back Peyton Hills. It was very close but later Peyton Hills won it, Vick has graced the cover in a past Madden so many people viewed that he shouldnt have two covers (this has never been done by anyone).

Madden Soundtrack

Usually games have bad music, one or two good songs but this year I loved the entire soundtrack EA Sports put together.

Here they are:

1."6 Foot 7 Foot" Lil Wayne featuring Cory Gunz
2."All Around The World" Theophilus London
3."Architects" Rise Against
4."Award Tour" A Tribe Called Quest
5."Back For More" Five Finger Death Punch
6."Boom" Snoop Dogg featuring T-Pain
7."Bridge Burning" Foo Fighters
8."Champion" - Chipmunk featuring Chris Brown
9."Colours" Grouplove
10."Don't Play Me Close" - David Rush
11."Get Up!" - Korn featuring Skrillex
12."Get the Up" Yelawolf
13."Ghetto Dreams" Common featuring Nas
14."I Want It All"/"We Will Rock You" Queen featuring Armageddon
15."Last Man Standing" Asher Roth featuring Akon
16."Make Some Noise" Beastie Boys
17."Mind Your Manners" Chiddy Bang featuring Icona Pop
18."Money for the Weekend" Alberta Cross
19."On Ya Mind" MellowHype
20."Pass Out" Tinie Tempah
21."That Ain't Classy" Classified
22."They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" Pete Rock & CL Smooth

Overall Rating for Madden 12: 9.5

Point Streaks And what game says they do. (Killstreaks)
MOAB (25 kills)
The MOAB (Mother of All Bombs) is a hidden killstreak available with any Strike Package. It's earned by getting a 25 killstreak, not including Strike Package kills. The MOAB works pretty much like the Tactical Nuke from Modern Warfare 2; it kills every enemy on the map and causes an EMP-effect for the enemy team by eliminating all enemy equipment, electronics and killstreaks for 1 minute.
The MOAB doesn't end the match. The team that uses the MOAB will have double XP for the remainder of that match.

Assault Strike Package

UAV (3 kills)
Shows enemies on the radar as red dots for 30 seconds. Enemies that have the Assassin perk equipped are not shown on the radar.

Care Package (4 kills)
The Care Package is dropped to the battlefield and contains a random killstreak. The Care Package can be picked up by anyone, even the enemy.

I.M.S. (5 kills)

Now to The main review.

The game itself runs very smoothly, but not perfect because we all know that there is always a laggy match. The abundance of players on this game means for a match to be found every time you go looking for one. No matter the game type you will always get a match. The way the guns shoot feels great, it makes you feel like you could just blow everything up, but it is not Battlefield so... what ever. There are so many game types to choose from and play. I will give more detail now.

Core and Hardcore Gametypes

Core Game types
Team Deathmatch:
This is the staple game type most of the CoD community plays. Mainly because it is the classic game type and most straight forward. That is the game type people play when all they want to do is kill, nothing else. The main objective you have for this game type is to kill the enemy team as much as possible. The score limit is 7500 or 75 kills. I like to play this when I just want to have some fun with my friends shooting and killing noobs.

Kill Confirmed:
This game type is just about the same thing of Team Deathmatch, but with a twist to it. Every time you kill someone, they will drop their dog tags and you have to retrieve them. If you do not get to them in time, it will disappear. You can also pick up your team mates dropped dog tags to "deny" the enemy kill. The only kills added to the score are when the team gets the enemy dogtags. This means a team could have 12735 kills, and never picked up any dogtags, so they would lose. You still get points for every kill, even if you don't grab the dog tags. You also rack up poinys when you grab dog tags; teammates or enemy dog tags.

Mercenary:
It is both what I said for Team Deathmatch, and Kill Confirmed, but with no parties allowed. It is both game types and switches.

Free-For-All (FFA):
This is just like Team Deathmatch, but with no teammates. You are your own team. No parties are allowed to play this game type for boosting issues. Also there are only 8 people allowed in the game at a time.

Domination:
Fight to control 3 flags named A, B, and C. The more flags you own, the more points you rack up. There is no kill limit in this game type, and you do get points for securing flags, and it also counts as a kill. There is a 200 point score limit. I love this gametype. If you ever want to play it my GT is Text Symbols

Ground War:
This consists of Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, and Domination. All with bigger team sizes. Same rules and stuff applies.

Team Defender:
Just get a hold of the flag, and carry that as long as possible. The team that currently is holding the flag gets bonus points for every kill. Team with most points in end wins.

Demolition:
This is a game type where there is a defending team, and a attacking team. You have unlimited lives with no kill limit. The attacking team tries to plant to bomb in 1 of 2 places or both, once both bombs are blown up, the attackers win. Anything otherwise resides to the defenders winning.

Sabotage:
There is one neutral bomb, unlimited lives, and two teams. The first team to grab and blown up the enemy bomb wins.

Headquarters Pro:
A Moving headquarters will be established. The team to first capture it gets points per time of holding. The other team can take it down after the other team has secured it. First to 200 wins.

Search And Destroy:
This is a game type where there is a defending team, and a attacking team. You have one life with no kill limit. The attacking team tries to plant to bomb in 1 of 2 places. If a bomb is blown up, the attackers win. Anything otherwise resides to the defenders winning.

Capture the Flag:
Each team has a flag that the enemy tries to get back to their base as many times as possible. The team with the most enemy flag secures in the end wins the game. There are up to 3 rounds.

Team Tactical:
This game type consists of Team Deathmatch, Domination, Demolition, Search and Destroy, and Kill confirmed. There are 4 people on each team. Same rules apply for each game type.

Mosh Pit:
And assorted playlist filled with every objective based game type. Domination, SnD, Demolition, Headquarters, Capture the Flag are some of the included game types.

Barbones:
Team Deathmatch, Domination, Demolition, SnD, Capture the Flag, and Kill Confirmed are the game types in this playlist. All killstreaks are DISABLED.

Game Type Rating
8/10

Hardcore Gametypes
Every gametype is the same, but with Less health, and no hud.

If you ever want to play it my GT is Text Symbols. Less health, no hud.

Search And Destroy:
This is a game type where there is a defending team, and a attacking team. You have one life with no kill limit. The attacking team tries to plant to bomb in 1 of 2 places. If a bomb is blown up, the attackers win. Anything otherwise resides to the defenders winning. Less health, no hud.

Team Tactical:
This game type consists of Team Deathmatch, Domination, Demolition, Search and Destroy, and Kill confirmed. There are 4 people on each team. Same rules apply for each game type. Less health, no hud.

Hardcore Game Type Rating
7.6/10

Graphics
The graphics in this game are great. The are far better then the recent Call Of Duty Black Ops, and Modern Warfare 2. The are obviously not perfect (when is anything perfect) but the sure are good. The run smoothly but do feel a lot like Modern Warfare 2.

Graphics Rating
9/10

Leveling System
The leveling system is great. A total of 800 levels including 10 prestiges, this games has days of playtime. There are 80 levels per prestige that you can rank up to. There are so many easy ways to level up, like doing objectives or just killing. With gun leveling it gets more intense the way it works. All I have left to say is, good luck on level 800.

Leveling Rating
8/10

[align=center]That is my Review for the Multiplayer of Modern Warfare 3.

My final Rating
9.6/10

This game is for sure worth the multiplayer.

@Extras - There is already a MW3 Review, Here. You could post that in that thread since I'm pretty sure you can't add 2 Reviews of the same game..

Synopsis (Wikipedia)

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock retains the basic gameplay from previous games in the Guitar Hero series, where the player uses a guitar-shaped controller to simulate the playing of lead, bass, and rhythm guitar parts in rock songs by playing in time to scrolling notes on-screen. The game, in addition to existing single-player Career modes, includes a new Co-Op Career mode and competitive challenges that pit the player against in-game characters and other players. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is the first game in the series to include an online multiplayer feature, which is enabled in the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii versions. Initially the game offers over 70 songs, most of which are master tracks. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions feature the ability to download additional songs. The musicians Tom Morello (of the bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave) and Slash (of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver) make appearances both as guitar battle opponents and playable characters in the game. The PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions also include Bret Michaels (of Poison) as a non-playable character.

Career Mode

The Guitar Hero 3 Career Mode was probably the funnest out of all of the Guitar Hero Games since it had the best songs. Most of them were cool like "Before I forgot" By Slipknot, "Stricken" by Disturbed and there were a ton of other cool songs. Plus it was fun since you could use a Guitar to play if you had one.. Well, not any Guitar but the one that came with the game if you bought it brand new. Some of the songs were really difficult to pass especially "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce and it was the hardest song in the whole game. If you had a buddy, there was also Co-Op so both of you could play splitscreen.

Multiplayer

The Multiplayer was basically You vs. your Friend that was near you. It wasn't online but I guess it was basically just for fun and there were 3 Modes (I believe).. One where you and your friend/relative play and each of you have the same notes at the same time, another was when you would play one part, your friend/relative would play the other and keep on continuing and there was another one where you could use these power ups where you would get the upper advantage so for example, there was one where if you got the power up your opponent would now have to play lefty making the notes to be switched.

Multiplayer was really fun to play, especially if your opponent was trying and not just pressing random buttons.. It would also be funner if you two were on the same level since it would be more of a competition. (=

Online

The online could have been Slightly improved.. There was hardly any lag or no lag at all since your not really using a Host that much since it's just two screens and both of you are playing. It would of been fun if they would have created a couple more Game Modes rather than the 3 I've included Up there.. In the Multiplayer Section..

Awards

Here are some of the Awards Guitar Hero III got :

Rating

8.5/10

I'm going to go with an Eight since there were a couple drawbacks in the Online.. There was a lot of cool songs especially on the Dashboard where you could download about 15+ More. There was also a Halo Music Download <3 and some other cool ones.. Anyways, 8/10 would be my Final Rating!
I only bought this game since I played it on the PS2 and it was very fun and I thought it would be easy getting achievements... I was wrong..

MineCraft

Release Date: May 17, 2009
Developers: Mojang
Publishers: Mojang
Platforms: PC, Android, Xbox 360 (Demo Version)
Players: Single, Multiplayer

Synopsis

Minecraft is a sandbox-building independent video game written in Java originally by Swedish creator Markus "Notch" Persson and now by his company, Mojang, formed from the proceeds of the game. It was released as an alpha on May 17, 2009, with a beta version on December 20, 2010. Official releases for iOS and Android have been released and the full version of the PC game was released on November 18, 2011 at MineCon 2011. The Android release was temporarily exclusive to the Xperia Play but is now available to the rest of the Android market.A version of the game for the Xbox 360 with Kinect support is under development by 4J Studios and delayed until 2012.

The game is focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. The game has two variants free Classic and paid Beta. Classic is focused entirely on construction with unlimited material supply, whereas Beta has two modes: Survival requires players to acquire resources themselves and keep their health and hunger up, whereas in Creative the player has an unlimited supply of resources. Both Beta modes contain many more features than Classic, as well as the addition of mobs. The gameplay is heavily inspired by Infiniminer by Zachtronics Industries, and Dwarf Fortress by Bay 12 Games.

The game has been officially released at MineCon. The full release version was issued on 18 November 2011. Minecraft was developed for about a week before its public release on May 17, 2009, on the TIGSource forums, where it gained a considerable level of popularity. It has been continually updated and patched since then, and while it was still in alpha release, it garnered several hundred thousand sales and received critical notice and acclaim from many reviewers. It passed a million units sold on January 12, 2011, less than a month after reaching Beta. By November 7, 2011, the game had sold 4 million units.

Multiplayer

The mulitplayer of this game is like a whole new game. In my view minecraft is not the same without a multiplayer. This way you can show off your work with friends, build things with others and much alot more. The multiplayer is a bit laggy but this is on a rare occasion. Overall if you like building things with other people minecraft is the game for you. And another thing to add the better your internet and computer the better time you'll have on Multiplayer

Multiplayer Rating: 10

Conversion to the xbox 360

MineCrafts current project is the conversion onto the xbox 360. The goal they have set to achive is a "lag free" minecraft, another reason why they are converting it over to the 360 is that the devs have much more to work with in terms of graphics and space. In my view the Xbox 360 version is going to be 100x better than the PC version. They have released a demo that is on Xbox Live only. As of now the Xbox version of the game has been delayed until 2012, so stay tuned for more ill keep this updated as news comes in.

iLewis' Skyrim Review

The Sub section for Skyrim: Here

Synopsis

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth installment in The Elder Scrolls action role-playing video game series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It was released on November 11, 2011 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Skyrim's main story revolves around the player character's efforts to defeat Alduin, the firstborn of Tamriel's primary deity Akatosh. Alduin is prophesied to destroy the world. Set two hundred years after Oblivion, the game takes place in the land of Skyrim, which is in the midst of a civil war after the assassination of the High King.

The open world gameplay of the Elder Scrolls series returns in Skyrim; the player can explore the land at will and ignore or postpone the main quest indefinitely. Following its release, the game received universal acclaim from critics. (Taken From Wikipedia)

Gameplay

I was loving the gameplay in the first 1 hour and it only seemed to improve. You can rummage your way around the massive open world by foot and horseback. The interaction with the game is also incredible completing quests, assassinating and even joining factions. You choose a character from over 20+ unique characters who each have their own powerful attribute, you can even customise your character appearance. There are two skills divided evenly between the two sections of fighting magic and stealth and then training until the necessary required experience is met, results in the player's character leveling-up and becoming only stronger. When exploring the game world, the player may encounter wildlife. Many wilderness monsters are hostile towards the player and can be killed for items and humans leave gold.

Graphics

The graphics are awesome, I remember the first mission where you encounter a thief who is decapitated right in front of your players eyes. The textures are sweet and contain realistic scenes on the wilderness. It has an open world which expands into high quality plants, rocks, caves and lots more. The textures on the animals and humans are extravagant although I did encounter some bugs with player eyes switching randomly. The graphics for me are a vital part in gaming and this has stormed the benchmark in open games.

Music

Most of you know that Jeremy Soule was to compose music for Skyrim after his work fantastic work on Oblivion. He composed the main in-game soundtrack called "Sons Of Skyrim" Which I think suits the game superbly. The in-game SoundFX were also great the slashing of blades and the running and horseback effects were great to, once again Skyrim receives another great score from me on the sound.

Overall Conculsion

To put it as frankly as possible, Skyrim is one of the best games ive played all year, one of the best games of the current console and PC gaming, and one of the best roleplaying games of all time. You have to purchase this game, the graphics are sensational, the soundFX was soft and couldn't of suited it more. Skyrim is a must buy if you're into roleplaying open world games. Superb. I think that word sums the game up.
