turn on a second controller, then press A, sign in and viola

First off, you need 2 controllers. On your main controller - sign in on your main account. Now before you go searching for a match, you have to add the other controller by turning it on and pressing the 'A' button - you will then be asked to sign into another account of a guest profile.
Now you can go online and search for a game.
