Does anyone else get a feeling that modding is going to just vanish eventually?
Hmmm

in my opinion, no. people will always come up with new ways of modding and hacking games, nothing is unhackable, it will always happen
Almost every game out now has patches preventing people from hacking and dis-allowing JTAGs.
Hmm again i think the hacks/hackers will have to be pretty smart on this one :p

hackers are very very smart, they will find a way round, its not going to die:)

eTwisty wrote No, modding will NEVER get patched.
Thing is, we can't prove this,
Logically nobody can prove this.
Game creators could get smart OR hackers could get smart.
There is no way to know for sure.

So are game developers but like i said to the other guy, there is no way to prove who will win.
Hackers v Developers
Let the battle commence xD

the more that security programms come out the more hackers have to crack, as the companies update so do the hackers
it is a constant battle, and if there is money to be made by hackers they will cotinue

It's a possibility, can't say for sure but you are pretty much accurate, more hacks come out, more patches come out.

Correct, Hackers make as much money as possible from almost anything to do with cracking, if this gets stopped, don't yoou think that would stop hackers if no more money is to be made?

the point is, hackers will continue to hack into things they are not supposed to, everytime something is patched they will find a new way in, its like crime, you cant stop it, only try and prevent it being an epedemic, hackers will always be around so long as there is something to be hacked

in many respects, yes it is.
but then again it can also bring new life to older more boring games, depends on the type of modding
