Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3
Sony was riding high on its Playstation 3 gaming console, while Microsoft had Xbox 360 to
its credit. With the new style of slim gaming consoles setting in, both of the companies have come
up with revamped versions of their game consoles (Naik 1). Both Xbox and Playstation have
many different abilities, such as the Playstation has a blu-ray disk player for watching movies and
gaming in a much higher screen definition. On the other hand the Xbox has a lot larger online
marketplace that stretches anywhere between downloading and renting movies, to downloading
game demos. Myself being an online gamer the Xbox 360 provides a superior experience compared
to the Playstation 3.

Playstation 3 Slim is the totally revamped version of Sonys Seventh generation video game
console PS3, which was launched by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2009. Not only its sleek
design, the PS3 console also holds a lot of new and old features, such as the removable hard drive,
also a high-definition optical disk format and as I mentioned the famous blu-ray player. The first
two consoles of the slim series had 120GB and 250HDD, but were eventually discontinued to make
way for the two upcoming models, the 160GB Slim and the 320GB Slim. The Playstation is also
equipped with the internal 802.11g wireless internet adapter. In March of 2009 Sony gave the
release date for the Playstation Move for September 19th. The Playstation Move is a motion
controller set to go for $50, its secondary is a Eye camera (that is placed on top of ones television to
read the motions). Although you can purchase a PS3 bundle that comes with the Controler, Motion
Sensor and the Playstation for $299. The only positives of the Playstations Move is that it comes
with the motion sensor and also the controler which makes it easier for the moves to be read, on the
other hand Xboxs kinect does not require a controller but does just as splendid as a job.

Almost a year after Sony introduced Playstation Slim, Microsoft was ready with their
revamped version of its seventh generation video game console, named Xbox 360 S (Naik 2). The new Xbox is not only 17 Percent slimmer than the previous console, it also stacked with new
Features such as five USB ports, integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wireless internet adapter, a TOSLINK
S/PDIF optical audio connector, and a new CPU with integrated GPU chip, which will make it
much more delightful for all the ardent fans of gaming (Naik 2). As of right now Microsoft has
released two different Xbox configurations, the 250GB Xbox 360 ($299) and the 4GB Xbox 360
($199). In early 011, Microsoft released a 320GB ($399) Xbox 360 console for a part of limited
time collectors editions. For the Xbox 360 the Kinect is a sleek sesigned motion bar that plays with
the new Xbox 360 S. Instead of the Kinect using a motion controler such as the Playstation Move, or
the Wii, the Kinect uses your body as the sensor, so you are basically acting as the controller. Two
players can take part in the games, or working together in unison to control the game, unlike the
move that can only use one player at a time (Workman 1). The price is a steep $129.99 for the
Kinect, but in most peoples point of view they say that the Kinect is much more superior to the
Playstation Move and is totally worth the money.

Although the Xbox has its steep prices compaired to the PS3, and the PSN is free to play
online games, Xbox live does cost $7.99 monthly. The Xbox 360 comes with Microsofts Xbox
LIVE silver membership, which essentially allows you to create a Gamertag and message friends. If
you want Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, and online multiplayer support, youll have to upgrade to
Xbox Live Gold, Which is 50$ yearly and $7.99 monthly (peckham 2). The Xbox controller has a
snug fit in the hands, unlike the Feminine Playstation controller, Xboxs controller is very
masculine and does not have the possibility of dropping out of your hands. New Xbox and PS3
game run the same price of $59.99, usually a few weeks after a Playstation releases a game there is
a price drop because of the unimportant Playstation only few people enjoy to play. The Playstation
dashboard is extremely hard to even start a game, you have to go through many folders to just
launch a game. Microsoft came out with a new dashboard where it is very simple to sign into your profile, and start your game by just a push of a button.

To sum up, both Xbox 360 S and Playstation 3 Slim seem to have their own pros and cons
wich makes it difficult to decide between the two, for few people. The Playstation does have a slight
edge because of the Blu-ray player, but the Xbox does have the HDMI capability, and for most real
gamers all they need is an HDMI cable and HD television, which most people have these days.
While the price tag in excess of $50-$100 might end up being a major deterrent when it comes to
PS3, the Blu-ray technology can temp users to go for it (Naik 3). Even though it is very difficult to
figure out which is better, the PS3 slim or Xbox 360 slim, I believe hardcore gamers will prefer the
