Well now. I can't exactly answer the first question. I was just using it, and you guys said I was really good, so I started using it more. I don't really know when I started using the Pen-Tool. I only started in Photoshop just over a year ago though.
This piece took hours in total. A lot longer than my normal pieces.

Any prior experience? I used to draw a lot, and I still do. I'm definetly not bad at drawing, but I'm not like super amazing at it. Honestly, I usually sketch something out in class, in school, when I'm not paying attention in Algebra, History or Spanish. I don't have a scanner, so I take a picture with my phone, email it to myself and open in Photoshop. Then I just trace over the outlines, with the pentool, which takes a while. Then color it, which takes a bit longer. XD

Lies, boobs can never be too big! lol Jk. I know. I wanted her to look thin, and I thought her gut looked too wide, soo every time i made her thinner, I didn't adjust anything around it, like making the boobs smaller, so it made them look bigger. XD

Back on topic: I love the decorative flowers in the bottom corners but the overall border around the image seems kind of novice. An old paper texture around the edges with some burn marks would make it seem like it is painted onto an old burned piece of paper. Just an idea. (subtle drop shadow would be neat too)

The dude's eye is a bit weird, but eyes are hard as phuck. The gradient in the background seems a little generic. I know it is supposed to be like a sunset or a sunrise but I still feel like it is the middle of the night because of the stars xD

Her feet are huge and his jaw line is a bit long. Love the detail in the pants though, if you are still working on this I would love to see the final result!

Agreed, those are too big.
I wasn't going to do much more with this btw, sorry. I've already put too much time into it imo.

I wanted the background to be a bit plain, and the border to be even plainer. If you've seen cartoon style band Shirts, it's supposed to look similar to those.
