Synopsis:
Skate puts you in the place of a street skater who is hoping to make it big. You can tips from some of your fellow street skaters, and then you are on your way. The game takes place in San Vanelona, and this whole city is your skate park. The main part of the story is to make it big in the world of skating. This of course, requires you to do a town of missions. You are fighting for sponsorship from 2 different magazines in Skate. Works towards sponsorship, fame, and the goal of becoming a professional skater.

Gameplay
Skate took a revolutionary outlook on to how skate games should be played. Most skate games before had the tricks set as, click a button, then x button, and etc. Skate decided to change the game completely. In order to do the tricks, you have to use the analog sticks in a very advanced fashion. While it can be easy to do some tricks, kickflip and heelflip, it can actually be very difficult to do the more advanced tricks(360 flip, Nollie varials). This adds a huge amount of realism to the game. You aren't going to be doing 1880 spins with 700 kickflips in this game. This isn't to say the game limits you to real life. You can still put together insane grinds, tricks, and manuals, it will just require some practice.

City
Map
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This is what everyone wants from a skating game, a sick place to shred up. This game delivers very well. It does a fabulous job of adding realism effects to this game. You can grind dumpsters, benches, and other ordinary things you would see the in the park. Cars also frequent the streets, and be assured, they will run you over. There are 4 man locations throughout the city. Each one as it's own style of skating. You can actually skate through the entire city(excluding walking into building, or fast travel) without any loading screens. The city truly is your canvas.

Graphics
The graphics are pretty good in this game. It helps add a touch of realism, as everything does look real. The colors, details, and objects help bring out a feel of real life into the game, which is a nice break from the animated graphics of other games. The game is shot from the point of view of a cameraman following you.

Customization
Another thing Skate delivers on is Customization. There are a ton of options to choose from for clothing including, hats, shirts, pants, shoes and more. You can make your character what you want him to be. Doesn't stop there though. It's a skating game! You better believes you can pimp out the board you shred on. Graphics, board detail, wheels, it's all there. Truly a great way to give you ownership of your character.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer is quite fun in this game. There are 2 gamemodes to choose from. Skate, and spot battle. Skate is essentially Horse, in which one player will do a trick. The other player most do the exact trick, or suffer getting a letter. The game goes on until someone has the word Skate(loser). Spot battle is a match up of points. You all play one spot. Whoever gets the most points after a number of tries is the winnner. Combos are big in this mode!!

Spots
So this is something very big in the skate game. Certain rare spots that are legendary throughout the city. In order to conquer the spot, you need to hit a certain amount of points in the spot in the time allowed. There is even a spot bible(book) that tells of all your victories with the spots.

Overall Opinion:
8/10

This might seem like a kinda low rating, but this game is a must play if you enjoy skating games. It leads into the following sequels Skate 2 and Skate 3, so this is a huge part of the series. This game changed the way you have to do tricks, which is a huge milestone. The story is fun, you meet a ton of professionals, and even have some laughs along the way. This game is very chill, and a fun way to relax after having a stressful day. I do recommend you pick this game up.

Toy Soldiers

Release Date: March 3, 2010
Developers: Signal Studios
Publishers: Microsoft Game Studios
Genre: Action/Strategy
Players: Single player/Multiplayer
Platforms: Xbox 360, PC
Rating (ESRB): Teen

Gameplay

Taking control of toy soldiers you battle it out and strategize against your enemy in attempt to claim victory. With 50 different controllable objects including tanks, planes, and mortars you have more then enough to defeat your enemy. Of course its not always about who has the biggest army which means you will have to carefully plan your next attack to be sure that it ends successfully. Fail to do so can result in the enemy going into your toybox causing you to lose.

Customization/Upgrades

One of the most important features when it comes to games like this is upgrades. With many things to buy such as turrets, mortars, anti aircraft and a few more it doesn't end there. You have the ability to upgrade them to further there use. Of course it doesnt come easy in order to unlock upgrades you will have to progress through the story aswell as earn money which can only be obtained by killing your opponent.

Graphics

These kind of graphics are not something you would expect to see in a game that revolves around toys. The detail is very well thought out and had alot of time put into it. The toys themselves look extremely well put together. Another great thing is that when you kill your enemy they break apart as if they were really toys.

Multiplayer

Similar to single player yet still just as intense you will have to strategize even more when fighting against real people. Alot harder to make money and such little time to put together a defense you will have to think quickly if you are to stand a chance. Your scores will also be put up to compare on the leaderboards

Overall Rating 9.5/10

A great game to play with friends or family. It truly tests your ability to think fast. It is a bit expensive running at 1200 points but i can assure you that it is worth it.

aints Row: The Third is built around the idea of giving you a playground to blow stuff up as you want.

Opening with a bank heist scene that has you fighting off waves of SWAT team members from underneath a helicopter, youre whisked off to the character creator, which gives you an idea of just how over-the-top Saints Row is going to be. Loaded with options, the character creator gives you the total freedom to create a character as you want, including the color of your skin, seven different voice options (including Zombie), and more. Once done with the character creator, the game doesnt let up on the action and drops you into an insane airplane escape sequence that kicks off the story and your introduction to Steelport, the new city.

The story of Saints Row 3 isnt particularly complex. Once moved over to Steelport youre then tasked with bringing down the rival criminal faction that expelled you from Stilwater. In fact, thats pretty much all you do, as the story is never particularly complex or deep and serves as little more than a delivery method for the games next big action moment. The plots focus on taking down your rival gangs mainly revolves around destroying their assets in some extraordinary way, putting you in situations like sniping enemies while hanging from a helicopter, stealing jets, and even getting complete plastic surgery to infiltrate an enemy carrier. While the characters you meet throughout the story are mostly likeable, some of them try a bit too hard to be politically incorrect, and theyre mostly used to serve as glorified introductions to the various side activities the game has to offer, and routinely disappear without mention for good periods of time. But with every mission offering a focus on having fun, the story itself is never really the focus.

Overall score 8.8

BATMAN ARKHAM CITY

One thing that Rocksteadys prior title, Arkham Asylum, got right was the ability for Batman to take on hordes of enemies all at the same time. That tradition continues, and is vastly improved upon, in Arkham City. There are points where you have more enemies on-screen than you think any human could tackle, and yet with the right timing of button-presses and a bit of patience, you will be flipping all around the area, dispatching the baddies with ease. In the effort of keeping things fresh though, the thugs around Arkham City (and in the various hideouts the super-villains use for their bases of operation) gradually become more well-armed-and-armored. There is a story-line point for this which I will not go into for spoilers sake, but it makes for a great reasoning behind these regular enemies becoming more powerful and harder to defeat.

Speaking of disposing of your foes, you have a bevy of Bat-gadgets with which to tackle that undertaking, in addition to helping the Detective get around the city. From the trusty batarang (including upgraded ones with remote-controlled or sonic capability) to the foaming explosive gel, from the decrypter to the remote electric charge gun, there are many ways to maneuver the varied challenges that await in Arkham City. Utilizing the gliding ability that Batmans cape affords him along with the ubiquitous grapnel gun means being able to traverse the entire expanse of the game in a relatively short time-span, which is very beneficial when it comes to some of the missions you encounter.

Need For Speed RUN! ROCKLEGEND09 POST

The notion that playing games is a waste of your time is nonsense, of course, but unfortunately Need For Speed: The Run lets the side down. Stuffed with a procession of long-winded loading sequences, protracted menu flipping and unskippable cutscenes, it often feels like theres as much watching as there is playing. Time wasted, in other words.

The Runs problems are manifold, and loading is only the most acute. In singleplayer, each stage requires a loading screen of well over a minute, the gap from one race to the next a yawning chasm. In multiplayer things are worse: loading can take anything up to five minutes, and often simply gives up altogether and remains in limbo. This is on a patched retail copy, and impossible to defend. As one online compatriot muttered while Las Vegas loaded: You could drive there quicker than this. Purely in terms of the respect it has for its players time, The Run is a failure.

Regular framerate drops and glitchy physics add to the general shonkiness, and even Autolog is spoiled. Its incorporation in The Run makes last years chic and slick innovation feel like an irritant, wheezing for yet more minutes between races while connecting rather than telling you anything useful.

Sims 3 Pets Review

(A ROCKLEGEND Review)

The console versions of The Sims 3: Pets may only allow you to play as cats and dogs, but the options for creating them match the PC version in complexity. If you want to create a digital incarnation of your favorite pet, for instance, you can start by choosing from one of the more than 100 available breeds or use the extensive customization interface to bring your memories to life. If you pick up the limited-edition copy of the game, you can even choose from 10 less orthodox pets, such as a Mabari War Hound from the Dragon Age series. As a small bonus exclusive to consoles, you can create pets from any age group, ranging from puppies and kittens to adolescent and fully grown pets. As with any other sim, you can also customize your pet's personality traits, voices, goals, and more.
Indeed, one of the most significant improvements The Sims 3: Pets makes over previous pet-based expansions for The Sims is the ability to individually control your pet much as you would any other sim, which means it's possible to play the expansion with only minimal human interaction. This attention to making pets almost as important as their owners extends to the console-exclusive karma system from the initial release. Not only is gaining karma easier because you can now attain it by completing challenges, but you can also gain six new karma powers, such as the ability to make all the pets in a given neighborhood go feral or the ability to transmogrify pets into another species if one of your sims develops an unusually deep relationship with the pet. If you're feeling particularly rabid, you can also use one of your powers to call down a meteor on a sim's head.
