I am joining the British Army as an Officer and I am also quite scared of stepping on an IED. British Forces are pulling out in 2015 so I won't be going to Afghanistan so I am not afraid of fighting the Taliban as I won't be anyway.

The only reason I would go army is if I failed everything school,college or uni.

Im only 14 but i would join the police or some type of security team. See how you like it THEN see how you like it.

Lol. You want to join the army but you're scared of dieing? The teams aren't like friggin captain price and mctavish... you're in four man squads mainly and you swap places being sappers etc.
You can't just ask to be a sniper, you need to qualify basic training and another basic role like infantryman.
You don't know what it's like either, it's deathly boring and you won't get on tour much and trust me I know a load of people in there.

P.S:
And trust me, the taliban aren't like friggin CoD... shows how much you get from media, they are sh*t scary, they don't just shoot you and you shoot them they are skilled and if you are captured they will torture you and behead you without any rules, hope you make an educated decision before games essentially brainwash you.
