I'd go with iPod. Great device. PVR's are subject to breaking easily and are way overpriced.

That was my decision for this Xmas i chose ipod Get an easycap for about 10 Tweak it up
or get a dazzle

Get The White Ipod Thats what im getting cause it looks sick and i had a HDPVR it isnt all that great and way too overpriced but on a Ipod You Can Text, Play Fun Games, Angry Birds, Facebook, Music, Youtube, TTG, Everything its really good so Ipod Bro

if your going to record alot then hdpvr if not then get ipod touch
