This happened to my friend, so he would keep opening and closing the tray then it eventually worked, but then it got worse. The main problem is your disk-drive you have the old xbox that doesn't have the new disk-drive. If you xbox is under warranty than hurry and send it in, but if it is not under warranty this will be costing you some money. I don't really know of any quick fixes, but the smart thing to do is just to send it in and not void your warranty if it is still valid.

waranty is way up. lmao i called and they told me all i can do is pay 120$ to fix it but i can get a new one for 200$ so why would i pay 120 for a simple diskdrive fix that cost like 50$ to do

TonyM wroterocker1106 wrote Ive had this problem and ive found that the only way I could get it working was by :
1. Install the Game you want to your hardrive when you eventually do get it to show. Usually the xbox can read the part of the disc which allows you to play through harddrive.
2. AFter playing it without the disk mine started to work without playing from harddrive.
SO maybe it is something to do with like too much playing or something as mine works fine now after giving the discs a break
Because usually most people can get it to work occasionally. And if this oppurtunity arrises then install it.
Hope this helped
how am i gonna install it to the harddrive if it can't read the disk!

Mines done this on and off for a few months, I just usually spray it with compressed air to blow any dust or anything out and it has seemed to work for me? Different people might have different problems but the same symtoms.
