Hey guys,
I'm 17 in 3 weeks and I've finally decided what I want to do, I'm not the best at school as I failed 2 subjects this year, which is the usual for me.
I've decided that I'm going to become an electro technician by doing a Trade through the army reserves Australia.
This means I'll go away for 28 days to do initial cadet training, basically GI training and then start my trade with a qualified technician working on Radio beacons, Night vision, advanced weapons and much more.
The one thing thats killing me is that there is a good chance I'll have to leave for up to 20 months away from my family and my future wife.
I haven't told her yet and It may be over to Iraq, afghanistan, east timor or at least a few hours away or inter state.
I don't know how to tell her because her main concern is if I get shipped off to fight which I have told her I can't because I'll be an Electro technician, I know if I tell her she'll start bawling, how should I tell her?

You know that the Military is specific now adays, you have to have good grades and be smart. And from what you say you don't seem to fit those categories and you might not pass the physical requirements.

hey man
Nice to see you are going to be working alongside the forces, you'll make alot of people proud.
As for the problem in hand, Tell her everything you know, if you don't tell her just now, and then it comes to the time and you find that you are being shipped to afghan, she will go mad as you've not given her 'the heads-up' (basically telling her about it)
If she doesnt like the idea at all, re-think everything through , and make the right decision for you!
Hope I helped
Dean
P.S. Good luck

Your life is a contradiction?
I failed these subjects because there was a period of time in Unit 3 where I had 2 wires in my thumb and went through depression, my thumb was broken because I do boxing which deems me fitter then then most guaranteed, so don't tell me about my life you **** without knowing, you make assumptions, you don't **** know me, all I ask is a question of how to tell my girlfriend and I get **** like you telling me that I can't
Get the **** out hater.
