The Koss DJ100 and the Creative Aurvana Live are good options. Take a look at both, and get whichever you prefer. Both are very well-regarded and excellent at their price point.

Hey guys, I'm from Head-Fi and figured I'd help r00t_b33r.
The MEElectronics M6's are a decent product but the IEM market has pretty much exploded within the past two years. Nowadays, my bass IEM of choice is the XePort 5010 with black ports. If you have any doubts that something this small can pack a punch, these will throw you through a loop!
For iSpot, the over ear headphones could be either the Monoprice 8323 or Panasonic HTF600. The KSC75's were one of my first headphones (bought them at Radioshack for $5!) and bass isn't exactly their strong suit. For IEM's, the Monster Turbine Pro Gold (I know, Monster, but these are actually recommendable!) is THE basshead IEM in my eyes. I haven't tried the Atrios though.

Thanks for telling me about the Xeports. I had never heard of those! I'm liking the tuning features like the Hippo VB has!
I just thought it might be better to get a pair of OK-sounding, cheap, and light clip-ons for when he tires of IEMs. I use my Portapros quite often for these resons although I have a number of higher-end headphones. The sound is fun and there aren't many strings and they're good not to worry about.
The only reason I hesitate to recommend the Turbines is due to the build quality, or maybe the fragility of the design. I've seen how my fellow teenagers treat their stuff, and it's mortifying (I baby all of my nice things, even if they are built to last)! I always make build quality a priority to people on TTG since they are almost all teenagers.
Thanks for the help!

The XePorts are pretty new products. We only got word of the last month and they're easily worth twice their retail price. I have the MEElectronics SP51 (same concept) and they don't even compare to the XePorts, while costing 3 times the price!
That's quite true about the clip ones. The KSC75's are pretty unbeatable at their price point and they're waaay more comfy than closed headphones. I like them more than the Portapros. Shame I broke my KSC75's in a recabling job.
The Tubrines' build has gotten better recently. Monster's put it upon them to improve their flagship IEM (probably flagship headphone in general, since they're better than the Beats Pros). I'm only 17 and I know how...irrelevant taking care of nice things can be a majority of the time (My Turbines' cable has somehow made three knots at once in my pocket due to my carelessness). The only problem is that their strain relief is sketchy at best, but they have a lifetime warranty.

I might have to pick up a pair of Xeports. I hate my Klipsch S4s since they're not my type and the cable is so fragile. They cost as much as the Comply tips I was thinking about getting for the S4s, that's funny!
Bummer. I want to recable a pair, as well when I get them. They also make great gifts when the price dips under $10! Better than Beats Solos (which people actually use to listen to music, apparently)!
I'm glad Monster isn't entirely full of marketing people and no engineers.

I'm glad they were able to improve. I looked into them when I was buying my S4s long ago, but the build turned me off of them.

I actually hated the S4's so my view may be skewed, but I liked the XePorts way more than the S4's.
The KSC75's are really easy to recable; I was just stupid and let bare ground and hot wire touch each other and didn't realize it until I killed the driver.
We all wonder why Monster's bothered to make decent IEM's, but don't improve the Beats. Then again, they don't really need to... I have both the Coppers and the Golds (the Coppers were from the first month of production) and only the Coppers have failed. The Golds have seen much harder times and breaking is not in sight! (Count this as a testament to their build quality to anyone looking at them. They're a good value at $180 on Amazon for those wanting a bassy IEM)

The S4s were my first real headphones, and I had nothing to compare them to and was not into audio at all, yet. Now I realize they're totally not for me. I'll definitely get some Xeports and maybe start liking IEMs again.
Bummer. I hope I don't goof up any of my future cable projects. I have SR80is to recable, M50s (removable mod), Portapros, KSC75s, HD 555s, and I'm going to make interconnects. I never knew cables could be so exciting!
I'll remember that about the Turbine's. Until now, I've had my qualms.

Quick question. What would you think in comparison of a pair of Sennheiser HD 448s vs. any pair of Beats?

The 448s need to be amped, ruling them out for most people. There are better options for the price, though. The other options can't really be compared to any of the decent-sounding Beats (Studio, Pro) since they're, well, 50 bucks. They destroy Solos, and can easily compete with the Studios. The Pros are not that much better than Studios.
