All Sony stuff tends to collapse pricewise by at least half their original price. I'm eagerly awaiting the Z1000 to get to the $250 mark too. They'd make awesome portables.

r00t_b33r, I just noticed that you included custom cabling options on the first post.

I've read and ignored all custom cables up until this point (some claim they make a difference, others disagree).

Could you elaborate more on why/how custom cables are better/make no difference? I'm too lazy to go through the hundreds of pages on Head-Fi...

It could also be beneficial to users seeking cool-looking cables (red Monster cables, anyone? Hehehe).

In theory, the reason different cables makes a difference is that the different materials and the purity of them provide more conduction, thereby more details and stuff coming from the driver due to the extra power. However, the argument is that the differences are so minute that it's ridiculous to believe them and consider cable rolling placebo. I'm skeptical but I wouldn't mind being able to hear the difference between cables.

The main reason to get a recable in my opinion is purely superficial. And I guess for better durability.

The Solos successfully give you neither deep bass nor clear sound. They're probably the worst value anywhere, even for $100. Even for $30 they'd be a sketchy buy since they sound so hilariously bad. (Looks like I'm going to have to stop sugar coating my words.) I didn't really like my Klipsch Image Ones stock-it was so muddy that I've seen cleaner pigs, and they still handily beat the Solos. I don't mind the Studios or Pros, but the Solos are a crime to aural cavities everywhere. I preferred the JVC Marshmallows to them. They're a $5 earphone. The Solos are that tragically horrible. I could go on for hours about how much of an embarrassment to the hobby the Solos are, being outclassed by even Monster's cheapest products, but I'll save my time. But seriously, don't ever consider them.

Instead, for around ears, you could go for the Ultrasone HFI580 or Sony XB700 on the cheap. Either will go down deeper than Beats ever will, backed by science, not opinion. There's also the Denon D1100, M-Audio Q40, and AKG K181.

If you can shove something in your ears without qualms, you could certainly go for the Monster Turbine Copper (there was a sale recently at Futureshop; you might get lucky and find someone selling a pair locally) or JVC FXT90. And you could add the XePort 5010 as a throw around IEM at $15. They have seriously epic bass for the price. You can throw out any misconceptions about smallness with you try them. These have given me headaches.

It's been covered in the first post as well as my post in the last page right here. The Solo HD's are neither amazing nor worth their price. It's scientifically proven that their audio quality sucks compared to cheaper headphones.

If you're just being another troll, so be it. Unsuccessful troll will be unsuccessful.

I'm talking about the On Ears. Trust, me, they're absolute crap. One of the worse offenses to audio ever. If you care about look, look at the AiAiAi TMA-1 or V-Moda M80/V80. Just don't get the Solos. They'll go down as THE worst use of your money ever.
