Generally, people with more rep are more trusted, and respected.
High rep is useful for someone who hosts modded lobbies and all that good stuff.
For example, who would you trust more?
Someone hosting a lobby with 10 rep, or someone hosting a lobby with 200 rep?
A high post count along with high rep is helpful to being trusted/respected around the site.

You gain 1 rep for every 30 posts(might not be exact number). You can give a rep to someone. but when you give rep you dont lose it. you also gain rep from having 100 likes on your replies

someone can give you rep, lets say I give you all my 35 rep you will have 35 rep points. I have 35 Rep power, you need 100 rep points for 1 rep power or you can post 30 posts for 1 rep power.
Hope I helped!
