Hi so I did the 12 v fan mod on my jtag and I did everything right and all, it's just that i didn't use stereo wire or whatever it is to connect the fan and sata cable, i used a red wire i found. But when I turned on my jtag, it froze on the boot screen. So I decided to put in the old 5v fans and it worked fine again. Did I do something wrong? Thank you for your time

you killed the power too the drive prob a bad connection u should solder into a 12v supply off the console for best results. get a betting wire and double check you connections.

Ive NEVER done a 12v fan mod using the dvd drive. and ive never had a problem with this method.
Keep the Black and blue wire intact
Strip the Brown and Red wires.
Solder Brown and red wires each to its own 12v source (yellow) as seen below.

Also works for adding a molex cable for external 12v source.
Rep me if it helped!
