i was just wondering since like my laptop hd just s*** the bed, is it like safe to run my windows 7 off of and external hd. Like i know its possible, but would it be like super slow since its connected through usb 2.0 but it has 7200rpm, and 8mb of cache. So yeah anyone got an answer <3 Thanks guys... Twistyyy

yes it would be slow, even though its 7200 rpm the data transfer through USB 2.0 is extremely slow, there isn't sufficient bandwidth with usb 2.0 for it to work. Maybe if it was an E-sata or USB 3.0 it could be viable but with 2.0 I wouldn't waste your time

Oh well thanks anyways...Just wondering but like i keep getting like hard disk memory problems on windows 7 with my internal drive so could I like format it and that would be fixed cause i just want like a fresh install of windows but everytime i do it through the install cd, it tells me to run diskmanager to fix my problem but it never does so could i just format my hd and install?
