I'm pretty sure the U.S has defenses to stop the nuke,so even if they do manage to do it(very rare) it will be destroyed and if they somehow do the other countries will help us in aid to attack them.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. What if they actually had a jet/bomber with a nuke on it, Our air defesnes would of probably taken it out or something, but it would be risky.

Yup, because as soon as a unidentified plane/aircraft passes over even 50-90 miles away from The united states, they make comunication with it, and if they don't get feedback, they take it down. I know that because of who the US is.

I think the worst possible thing that could happen. Would be that they had a english speaker who communicated back, And got onto US Soil. Just saying but theres probably a very little chance of that happening.

guys... you are all being dumb.
you can't just drop a bomb with no implications, for a start al-Qaeda would have to spend most of their money which is budgeted for training their group which would mean if it failed they would be ruined.
also when the nuke drops it's not like it's the end of it, radiation gets blown with the wind and will kill other people including your own members.
there is a 5% chance of a nuclear attack but high chance of a dirty bomb which is conventional explosives with ways of dispersing radioactive materials, google it

iran owns those resources and lots of fuel and oil.

however you don't need to launch it via submarine, and if it's developed right you can have it like a bomb jacket, but a backpack nuke, and russia and US have containers for backpack nukes.
however al-Qaeda doesn't, so they would need to somehow buy a nuke.
