The reason why people get banned for that is because the programs we use such as Modio break things Microsoft doesnt want us to have , such as gamerscore and avatar mods. I think it is stupid too but obviously Microsoft doesnt want you to do it.

The reason they ban you is simple really, you used unauthorised means to change the color, thats all they care about, they don't really care that your avatar looks like 'Weird Ed' on the retro game 'maniac mansion'
