if you fully backed up your ipod/iphone whatever it is that your using then when you restore it will ask you if you want to restore from a certain backup of your device if you have just updated your firmware and itunes without backing it up then your loss my friend

If you knew what you were doing.
It would help.
Also, I've never had any problems like this before, just because your incompetent to do something doesn't mean its apples fault. It also warns you that you will lose all your apps/music ect unless you *BACKUP* your iDevice.

Apple has nothing to do with you not backing up your device

Did you buy the songs or get them for free on a website?

Go to itunes on your device, goto purchased then music and click on all devices and it should let you re-download all of your songs, from there you can sync them to itunes. same for apps in appstore.

Everything you bought of iTunes you should be able to get back for free, just find the songs/apps your looking for and download them again
Hope this helps

It's the user, not the device. So stop hating on Apple just because you didn't know what you were doing.
