you get rep by posting useful posts and topics, if people like them, they may give you rep
Note: you are not allowed to ask for it
100 rep points = 1 power
you also get 1 rep power for every 25 posts you make
you may give rep 10 times per 24 hours and it will NEVER decrease your own

and if by food chain you mean become staff? then you should be around for a while, make yourself known for the good reasons post useful and helpful topics and replies, and when an announment goes out saying they need staff members you can apply

Firstly, dont bump your topic after 2 mins. Its against the rules, and does not make you look good.

On to the questions.

1) Be helpful, if users see you making good posts and being a good member they can +rep you(100 rep points = 1 rep power). Or ever 25 posts you get 1 rep power. However dont spam or you will be banned.

2) Not sure what you mean, but if you mean staff. Be a good member, dont spam, help people. When there are staff openings apply. Just be kind and you will be noticed.

And u get higher ranks in this when you post a certain amount of posts like 25 50 75 100 500 1000 etc so stay active but dont spam~
