SOPA was stopped as Microsoft and Sony took their name off the list. They were the two biggest companies that were with the idea and since they went off the list, it had very slim chances of passing.

The fact is it was only to make people aware, it was never going to be approved, a lot of people started worrying about this and that was their point so don't try facepalming anything if I had the time I would put you in the right place but next time you know.
