Beats Electronics has partnered with Monster for almost five years. However, the contract between the two is set to run out later this year, and when it does, Beats reportedly won't be renewing it.
Beats by Dr. Dre was founded in 2008 by Dr. Dre and Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine as an attempt to ensure the quality of the music they recorded and produced wasn't being compromised by sub-par audio equipment. Since the company launch, Monster Cable has had the exclusive license to sell Beats by Dr. Dre products. However that will change at the end of this year.

It's funny because Beats ARE the sub-par audio equipment. I heard about this a few days ago, and I can't help but hope they partner up with a decent manufacturer like Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, or another good name. Maybe they'll be able to fix what's wrong with the Beats line, but I doubt it.

The point is that this may be the end of the overpricing and hype, but I strongly doubt it. I haven't ruled anything out yet, though.

I'm pretty sure nothing's going to change, except now we have two companies instead of one. Beats still makes enough profit (How wouldn't they with 300% profit?) to R&D new products and can still probably use the same factory in China to make them. They probably wouldn't partner with another company because that would lessen profits. They've already poisoned the mind of consumers into thinking they're good, why waste money actually making a good profit since people will buy Beats even if they sound crappier than they already do.

If they don't renew it then I'm sure that they found a better company. They're very popular so maybe another company is offering them better benefits.
