I think Area 51 has something to do with aliens. I think they test and make new weapons and aricraft out there.

On Google maps it's blurred out, because Google made a deal with the Government/Military and the deal was that Google was able to use their special camera to get all the angles for the global map.

But Google was to hide all government concealed places, such as Area 51.

Thus making everything private, blurred out.

And if anything, Area 51 is either a Spec Ops training ground, or a weapons facility. As far as Aliens, the only thing I can think of is some sort of meteor landing and containing some sort of artifact. Maybe relating to aliens.
But most likely the public will never know.
