Should there be stricter rules on underage gaming?

Yes, the current ESRB/PEGI ratings should be enforced.

No, the rules are set as a guideline and it is up to the parents/store owners to decide.

no, its nobodys job to decide who can play what game other then the parents. if you dont want your kid playing a certain game then dont buy it for them. Most games in todays society are things kids are already exposed to so putting it in a game doesnt make it any different. so pretty much keep things how they are making it any stricter wont change anything other then lower the income of game developers

Yes, the child brain is in the stage of development and adapts to any thing it is exposed to, now I am not saying if a 12 year old plays call of duty or gears they will grow up and want to murder people, no. I feel it will affect the decision aspect of their mind and consciense. But hey, you'll never know lets wait a few year, I do feel however m for mature 18+ is too high of a age to play a game any fifteen year old and on can comprehend, i'm almost seventeen now so,

they would loose to much money buddy. What would they do have a cop arrest your parent for buying the game and letting you play it?

No there should not.
Yes there are many immature people that play these games but there are also young people that play them and are good and mature. Generalization is a terrible thing and the way they treat everyone is unfair. Just because your older doesn't make you mature. It doesn't stop you from sitting in your spawn or tea bagging someone. Yes there are annoying kids online but there are annoying adults as well.

Personally I think grouping people on there age instead of there maturity level is stupid. Yet you can't stop a person from buying a game because they aren't mature enough. Its hard to say but over all I think age isn't really a big deal

I think the rules are fine the way they are, just like in the store, they let the underage kids buy it with their parents, so if their parents let them buy it, they should be able to talk about it.

Thanks for participating all who did.

The answer with the most thumb's up belonged to Cheerilee
Cheerilee wrote I think that the rules are fine as they are. As long as their parents buy the games, and agree to let them play, why should we disagree?

The first answer I personally picked belonged to NeonFlux
NeonFlux wrote Well its not necessarily about the age, its the person. Some people cant handle the maturity needed to play games like that have violence and fighting an guns and such. It could lead to a person doing something like that in real life, like i said earlier depenending on their maturity. If they are grown up enough and know what theyre doing, they do it for fun. Who knows why others do it, and what they WILL do.

The second answer I personally picked belonged to Kylan
Kylan wrote For Christmas this year, my little 7 year old brother got an Xbox 360.

Now with his Xbox he didnt get a 3+ or 7+, he got Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Halo Reach, both these in the UK being rated 18+ and 16+ respectivly.

Now I was only allowed to start playing games rated 16-18+ when I was 14 years old, which was around 2 years ago now. However my little brother is playing these at half the age I was.

But do you know why?

You could blame me I guess. But you could also blame the media. You could blame friends. But its to do with influences.

At the end of the day different kids are effected in different ways to others. Some may be "distrubed" by these games, or others (like my little bro) may shrug off the fact that he just blew someone up and see it all as a game. Its all to do with the individual.

The point im trying to make here is that this 18+ game doesnt make my little bro more violent or want to kill people, so really the rating doesnt really apply to him anyway.

So making the rules stricter would help in some aspects yes, and it would deffinatly benifit, but in other cases no. It would make it harder for under-aged games to get there hands on games and go on un-rated online experiences, which would effect them negatively, but there will still be ways for them to do so, and for now we can just stick with what we have.

Pros and Cons to boths sides I think, but for now stick with what we have
