Anonymous WILL hack Xbox Live if it is in their best interest.
They will do this to appear on news channels and all over the internet to help the guys from Megaupload who were arrested and help stop SOPA and PIPA.
Anonymous CAN take down xbox live, they have taken down the FBI and Department of Justice so I'm sure they are more than capable of taking down xbox live ;)
Obviously theres a lot more to it that what I'm saying but trust me, if they want to, they will!

Hopefully this briefly explains their reasons and that they can.
