I'm going to point out why it would make no sense to target social media;

• They use tools such as Twitter & Youtube to raise awareness for their Ops.
  
• If they take down social media, they're as bad as the govt. as they're censoring peoples rights to free speech
  
• To take down that many services, they're going to need a lot of man power.
  
• This entire Op. shows anon are too f*cking stupid to realise that by being a distributor for the coprighted material people uploaded, MegaUpload broken international copyright, which wouldn't have been an issue on something like a swiss/swedish based server, hence, they brought this upon themselves.
  

While I disagree with taking down an entire website due to a certain amount of pirated content, rather than issuing a cease-and-desist order, from a legal point of view they have broken copyright laws by distributing the material.
