Religions were created by the sole fact that humans have fear of the unknown. Create something that they can have faith in and it eliminates all "evil". This "evil" is just the fear of the unknown. You hate what you don't know or understand. People have thousands of questions on how we were brought into being, what controls nature, reproduction, morality, and what's most questioned: where do we go when we die? Religion is a cop out to stop questioning these very questions. Religion gives people a sense of security or for others, entrapment. Being overly certain of your beliefs isn't the best idea. Questioning and doubting the world around you is healthy. It allows the mind to grow.
