Can you post both of the ways in detail? I'm having trouble doing this. I've followed every step exactly but still no maps to download

Ok so the things I've tried are
Linking to friends premium
Linking on Xbox
Deleting cash
Starting up mw3
But there is no option to get the maps.(checked store, private match, ect)

Thinking my friend was just screwing around because it doesn't say m premium when I link to his account I borrowed his gamertag and downloaded the maps. The problem is they are linked to gamertags so even though I have them on my hard drive now, I can't play them.
Few questions
How long do I wait after linking account?
Why does it say I'm not premium when linked to a premium account?
Is there any other way to do this?

did you go to elite on xbox?

Elite premium is linked directly to each individual Gamertag/PSN not each elite account. I didn't even have my Gamertag linked with elite and I was still able to download the maps because like I said before, premium is linked to each GT/PSN.
