Why on earth would you need quad-Crossfire? It's terribly inefficient and not even possible on 1155. Quadfire is really only used for competitive benchmarking and as a proof of concept.

i dint mean quad as 4 gpus, i ment it as 2 gpus! some on NCIX he quotes it as quad sli/ quad crossfirex yet its only 2 gpus!

have you miss understood? quad crossfire/quad sli isnt 4 GPUs... its 2!

No, it is 4 GPUs. Crossfire is two, and Trifire is 3. Two dual-GPU cards in Crossfire would give you 4 GPUs. A dual GPU card can also be used with a single GPU cards (Like a 5870 with a 5970) for a triple-GPU setup with two cards.

There is a distinction between a "graphics card" and a "GPU." You cannot refer to one as the other.

There is no such thing as future proof, unfortunately. What's most important is saving all the money you can while getting a system that will not limit you for as long as possible. This is why a lot of people build yearly systems that are more reasonable. Hardware goes out of date fast, so there's no reason to drop a ton of money needlessly on hardware you'll never actually need.

In the near future, current storage will be outdated the fastest. SSD tech is coming up in a big way, and we're on the cusp of the switch from magnetic drives to solid-state drives. It's a bad time to buy any storage now, so get what you need and not five 3TB drives and a number of SSDs. You'll regret it.

Same goes for everything else. Within a year, your stuff will be a generation behind. Go for the sweet spot, not the flagships. The sweet spot for 2011-2012 was the 2500K, 6950/560Ti, 8GB RAM, the Samsung Spinpoint F3, Corsair 650TX (or equivalent), perhaps a 128 GB SATA III SSD like the Crucial M4 or Samsung 830, a quality board (there are many), and a case like the Lian Li PC-K62.

New stuff is entering the market now, so the conventions are changing.

well my build will be happening towards the end of spring and a budget of like 2000 tops! so theres no reason seen as you say there will be a change so ill just wait it out thanks anyway
