I am really trying to decide between these two cards. I want the one that will allow me to play mostly any game on ultra/max settings, on 1366 x 768 resolution at 720p. I will be upgrading to a monitor that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 resolution at 1080p later on. I want to at least be able to play on high settings on that monitor.
I play a lot of FPS games on my XBox. So I will mostly be playing Skyrim, and some other games with really good storylines. I also might play a couple games like GTA IV on my PC. I want the GPU that I choose to be able to run those games on high/ultra/max settings at about 40-60 frames per second at all times. Even on GTA IV when I have graphics enhancer mods installed.
If you need to know more about my build to help, here it is:
Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4.5 GHz
ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo
650W Corsair PSU
Corsair 400R Case (7 Fans all together)
8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 2133MHz RAM
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
500GB HDD
DVD-RW Drive
GPU? Help me decide!
I hope that I gave you guys enough information. If you need anymore so you can decide which is the best GPU for me, then just ask.
Sorry for such a long read.
EDIT:
Here is a link to the Radeon HD 6950 that I want if you guys think I should get it: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

in benchmarks the gtx 560 ti is faster then the 6950. I have a radeon hd 6950 dd version and it gets on average 45-50 fps in gta with high setting(everything on the highest setting brings it down to 25 fps , BUT thats running at 1080p if your running at 720p either will do fine so its down to personal preference. The gtx 560 runs cooler(fans are also quieter) and since its a super clocked version it will be pretty boss so i would say the gtx 560.

If you have a lot of space in your computer case, I would go for the 6950 because I heard that Nvidia gpu's drivers can crash a little bit. Just read the reviews.
If I were you, I go for the 6950 if I have the space for it.
If you don't, just get the nvidia gpu.

Go with the 6950.
But make sure, if you do go with the 6950, to get this one:

The cards pre set overclock makes it almost like the power of a 6970, and considering it costs less than the 560ti superclocked version that you gave, it is well worth the money.

Just last month I had the same dilemma, GTX 560 ti OC or hd 6950?
In the end I went with the gtx 560 ti OC only because it was cheaper by like 25$.
Iv'e a similar build but with i7,
Runs Syrim on full ultra - no problems always 50+ fps.
GTA IV maxed - very smooth (dont play very often)
I play minecraft alot and it runs it on fancy & far at always above 250 fps.
Itsa great card and im sure the superclocked would be even better.

Battlefield 3 runs better with AMD cards, while some other games perform better with the GTX 560 ti.
They are both equal,
Depends on your brand preference or
Better AA = AMD
PhysX = NVIDIA

I heard that PhysX makes some games lag really bad. So that is not really a +. What do you mean by AA, though?

Dude, you can easily unlock the shaders on the 6950 to a 6970. I Crossfire two unlocked 6950's and they are amazing.
