Well, I got an iPhone 4s for Christmas and I think I finally want to try to jailbreak it.

I'm currently on 5.0.1 software.

I'm just worried about the risks, especially since I have a two year contract on the phone.

What are the risks?

the only bad thing about jailbreaking, is that it voids the warranty on your phone and makes it a bit slower witha lot more battery consumption.

tbh, i have found no problems with mine, only problem i had was with dreamboard which is an app from cydia that alows you to have ADVANCED themes...like android and windows 7......it is legal now, has been for a while actually, if you are worried about it, dont be nothing will go wrong just dont get worried if it takes long to load or download something when jailbreaking, it does that at first than it is fine, my ipod is completely smooth and perfect. Jailbreak is better than any software update. !! completely honest answer.

If it got too slow for me, could I restore it and it be back to normal?

People say it voids the warranty, which it does, but if you have any problems with the phone and have to bring it in, all you have to do is restore it on iTunes and it's all fine and can't even tell it has been jailbroken. I would jailbreak it for all the free stuff. You will never have to pay for iTunes cards again.

Yes you can always restore it, and for the warranty just do a restore if you ever need it back (after you jailbreak it).

Alright, thanks everyone.

One last question though..

Someone told me you have to worry about corrupt developers and stuff you download from Cydia.

They said it can slow your phone down, get your personal info, etc.

Is this true?
