Okay so i dont know if this has been posted before (more than likely it has) but i need to rant about the 'online pass' feature thats recently started popping up in games nowadays!

First off, its killing an industry! The 'Pre-owned' games industry!
Pre-owned games are the best way to find a bargain! In a few years time if i want to return to lets say Dead Space 2 for example, im not going to be able to find a new copy anywhere, then once ive bought a pre-owned copy im going to have to also buy an online pass! I WILL NOT BE BUYING AN ONLINE PASS FOR A GAME I ONLY WANT TO RETURN TOO!
Okay so its obviously only for the online but still!! IM NOT PAYING AGAIN!

Secondly, its money grabbing! Fair enough developers spend years trying to perfect one game and release it for the small fee of 40 or so, but big games sell millions of copies and that should be enough! I will probably buy all of the DLC's for the game (if its worth it) so lets say its 1200msp per DLC for 2 DLC's, thats 19 give or take about 2 so a vast number of people have already spent about 60 on the game times a few million is a decent revenue, so why should some poor guy just 'returning' to the game somewhere down the line have to pay 6 just to play online on an old, used game?!

And last but not least, its mostly EA doing this! I buy alot of EA games but they are complete money grabbing
Thankyou for listening! I know they provide a free one in the case but it cant be used twice!!

I agree! I got so mad when I ordered a copy of NHL and then they're like you need to spend 800 MSP for an Online Pass. So stupid. -_- I don't see why you need a special online pass. MW3 and BF3 don't do that.

BF3 are published by EA so they will introduce online passes in the near future, +Call of duty elite will become physically needed soon, its a ridiculous price too!

Eventually they do release them for free.
But I have complained about the same thing every time I buy an EA game. Also sometimes they come included in the game case? Or is that just me?

The only good thing is that some EA games with online pass give you limited edition stuff

You are forgetting that when the developers have sold the game once, they no longer will recieve ANY money except DLC (Which is why it is there). While retailers such as GAME continue buying and selling the same game continuing to profit from the developers game.

Also the profit margins in brand new games are slim which is why they (retailers)only stock the 'popular' titles. The online pass means that retailers will have to buy brand new games as customers will want the pass, therfore making the developer more money. (Poorly worded, but you get the message?)

Anyway why complain?? In 10 years i think the xbox will be like steam (PC platform gaming).

And lastly if someone offered you 100 million or 150 million, which one would you take?? that's the position developers are in...
