The impending sanctions against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's regime are the toughest move yet to force the country to the negotiating table before it completes work on its first nuclear warhead.


Two Iranian warships sailed through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean on Saturday. The move put the vessels within striking distance of Israel, which is drawing up plans to hit Iran's nuclear research sites with air strikes. Mr Hague warned Israeli military action against Iran would not be "a wise thing".
