I am wanting to jailbreak my iPod 4G 5.0.1 but am concerned about any risks and downsides to jailbreaking it. Please help me and I will + rep.
EDIT: What exactly is DFU mode and do I have to put it in DFU mode to restore my iPod from jailbreak?

I actually don't mind it.. I was really scared I'd do something to my phone, but I literally see NO different. It won't change anything if you don't download 8566856973470 things.

I would say there are two downsides to jailbreaking a device. I'm sure this reason is obvious, but jailbreaking voids the devices warranty. Another downside would be that it does slow down your device only if you download too many apps or tweaks.
DFU mode is a mode that you will need to put your device into to jailbreak the device, but after the jailbreak process is done, it should boot normally. DFU mode is commonly known as recovery mode. DFU mode can also be used to restore or downgrade the firmware on a device.

Makes your device slower which is if you install a lot of apps that are running at the same time which would also drain the battery quicker and if it's under warranty it will be voided but you can always restore back to original firmware.
DFU mode... you can find enough information about that on YouTube.
