So heres my problem i can play games like BF3 on ultra and games like CSS on 200 - 300 fps but when i record for ex. Counter Strike Source my fps drops from around 250+ to 20 - 30 fps.
So is their any ways to get better performance out of fraps, or anything of that kind? I hear that it can depend allot on how much ram you have but for me i don't think that is the problem as i have 16GB of ram.
Also to my knowledge i have quite an old version of fraps, would updating help/fix this issue?
Heres my specs
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
Display Memory: 4062 MB
Dedicated Memory: 2014 MB
Shared Memory: 2047 MB
Fraps Version 2.9.4 Build 7037

A newer version might help but the thing is Fraps will synchronize the game to the same FPS you are recording at. If you are recording at 30fps then your game will have 30 fps, that's just how fraps works. Try recording at 60 fps, it is harder on your computer but should allow the games fps to be higher

Try getting the newest version, updates are for fixing problems like these. Also try turning off vertical sync.
P.S Why would anyone want to DOWNGRADE from an i7 to an i5? Peeps that are saying to downgrade really just need to stop. That's like saying "Well I think you should sell your Ferrari and get an Honda because I heard they are better." Come on people.

I agree, people need to understand that the i7 is better the i5 is just more cost effective for people only doing gaming with a limited budget.
