If you want the most bass possible, the Sony XB1000 is absolutely insane. If you want to get EVEN MORE bass out of the XB1000, pair it with a Digizoid ZO2 amplifier. But be careful, your head might explode!

If you want portability, IEMs are unbeatable. I'd get the Sennheiser IE8 (Watch out for fakes! Tell me if you need help finding a well-priced legitimate pair.). There are TONS of other options for less, though, so if you want to check them out, look at the guide at the bottom of the OP.

If you'd prefer an on-ear design, the Audio Technica ES10 is a good option. Still, I'd get an IEM in your position.

Not sure what you mean by hardcore. That could be a number of things.

Look at the Koss DJ100. Since it has a folding design and is very durable, it's very good for taking places.

The Monoprice 8323 and Panasonic HTF600 are amazing for the price. Much better than you might expect for so little.

What i like- Beats By Dre Studio Headphones.
is it worth it?

Beats aren't worth it at all. Instead, look at the Ultrasone PRO900 or HFI580. If you want something that looks cooler, the Audio Technica ES10 should be flashy enough.

The Pro 900 needs an amplifier and the prices are very wonky. I've seen them between $300 and $600. I don't think they're terribly power-hungry, though.

Amping's seriously overrated on Head-Fi. Even with my super power-hungry Sextetts (well, Sextett OEM), if I'd never heard them amped with a Burson HA160D, I'd be happy plugging them into even an iPod HP jack. As long as the user can get the right volumes (which should be possible since Ultrasones ime are pretty sensitive), it should be good enough at the moment. I was going to recommend the 750, but last time I checked, there was like a $30 difference between the two. I see the prices of the 900 have shot up. Bummer.

-Beast- the DUNU Tridents should be perfect for you. They love metal and aren't slouches with bassy music. I happened to dig up my pair earlier today and listen to some Finsterforst and they were surprisingly good!

I might have to get the Pro 900 used if the price doesn't go back down when I'm able to get them. Everyone seems to have scratched the earcups. Even if it was just a little, it would bother me to no end!

Use an invisibleshield or something like that! I'm using a protective screen for my '60 DT48's so they stay mint.

The ZO (v1) is one of my favorite devices ever. I use mine more than I thought I would. It's an amazing little product that makes even bass light studio headphones bassier than Beats.

Hehe...hardcore. I'm guessing you mean one of the sub-genres of metal. I'd LOVE to recommend you a Grado SR60, but they're open, so that won't do. I'd just go with the DJ100 that was recommended to you.

Yes, but there are better options now. They're not a bad buy, still, just the THE best. Instead, look at the Ultrasone HFI-580 and Brainwavz HM5.

Are they good for listening to rap, rock, classic rock. I like heavy bass too.
