My laptop has 3 removable trays on the bottom, one is for the RAM Chips I know that for sure because I upgraded the RAM chips once, I believe there should be a tray to open for the hard drive as it is a relatively new laptop (bought in '08)

Yeah it seems fine as long as you put the original HDD back in if you do need to send it off for any waranty reason
