I jailbroke my iPod Touch 4G using redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc16. I've been trying to update\restore to iOS 5.0.1 for a while now to no avail. I've tried manually going into DFU mode and then restoring and updating in iTunes. Didn't work. I've tried using redsn0w to enter Pwned DFU mode and then restoring/updating in iTunes. Also didn't work.
I get different errors each time I try. I've got 3194, 21, 1602, 1600 so far. Each time I look for a solution to these errors I'm told to use an application to put my iPod in Pwned DFU mode, even though I got all of these errors when I was already in Pwned DFU mode.
I've tried changing the hosts file as well.
I've even tried specifying firmware IPSW files that I've downloaded to my computer, still to no avail.
If anyone can help me get up to iOS 5.0.1 it'd be much appreciated.

Their are two solutions to fixing those errors. You can use Tiny Umbrella to start a TSS server for it to manually go through, or if that doesn't work, you can edit/delete the host files what ever works for you and see if it goes through. If you are managing the hosts files, I'd suggest contacting me first.
