I'm desperately trying to get good at jets but at best I get one disable per match and at worst the same a*shole kills me 12 time before I even get off the runway; so if you're on a jet map and there's people up for taking turns killing and evading each other w/ jets/helis I'm down

you need help buddy? I suggest some tutorials on flying, and getting someone off your tail. Play some ace combat(only 6-19$ at gamestop), or hawx, I played those games and it makes you more dominance in the air, the game campaign and practice modes teaches you everything about flying, landing, and bringing down your enemy. There is also some great tutorials on youtube for flying and evasive actions.

You will get used to flying after trying for a while.

I've read/watched tons of tutorials and I have the Hawx2 demo; trying to learn on a different game throws me off because they employ different control schemes and HUD elements than BF3 (Hawx has the toggle tracker that lets me know where my enemy is at all times and the jets are much more responsive) BF3 itself throws me off; I didn't realize that the jets were all different I just thought they threw down a different texture and called it something different. As for evading staying alive isn't the real issue for me I tend to be able to fly low or out maneuver my opponents but I am easily evaded; I also have a lot of difficulty spotting enemies and in order to spot enemy jets I tend to start taking straight sweeps at the battlefield which often gets me killed. I just need the pratice of following and tracking other people.
