Is it possible to reverse engineer a MMOs client to reveal detailed information about the game environment? (e.g- display the exp killing a monster will give you or what that monster will drop?) And particularly to make the source files of an MMO more intelligible (Thus making it easier to determine statistical information such as item drop/money drop rates)?

i got a packet analyzer and I'm trying to see if it's possible to decode the resulting hex data but I assume that the translation is proprietary...

You would have to receive data about that from the server I would assume and in most games are item drops not randomised?
