Please look up Pascal's Wager and the "argument from inconsistent revelations". Pascal's Wager talks specifically about this, yet it has so many flaws. How do YOU know that YOUR God is the right one? You don't. For all we know, every religion could be wrong and there could be an invisible floating unicorn in the sky who created us and if you don't believe he exists then you won't get into heaven. With this reasoning, my belief that there is no God will have the same consequences as you believing in the wrong one.

@Rosario Yes, Albert Einstein knew a lot, but he knows nothing about the existence of God. No one does. Albert Einstein is just an ordinary person when it comes to God, there is nothing special about him. Also, there are theories suggesting that there isn't a God, such as the Big Bang.

@Scrandy I agree with you, partially. I believe if God does exist, he doesn't seem very nice, considering he is saying we must believe in him in order to reach the inside of his kingdom walls. I believe all a person must do is live a rule-abiding life, thats just the rules of life. Religions just took these basic laws of life and put them into their beliefs.

you make a valid point, but there is only one god, im not saying "oh i know my religion is 100% right and the others are wrong" what i am saying is that all the gods are the SAME, they just have different names based on any religion but they are all the same people

Yes, but some religions have multiple Gods, with different purposes. To me, its all just a way to explain something that is unknown.

I've merely scanned through the last few posts and I'm already irritated by a lot of things people are posting.

Firstly, you're not agnostic, you're either an Atheist or a Theist.

Everyone is agnostic towards God, no-one knows if God truly exists. When you claim you're agnostic, it's the equivalent to me stating I'm a human. I'm not going to introduce myself saying; Hey I'm Tyler, a human. That's stupid and self-explantory, and so is claiming you're agnostic towards God. Sorry but there's no middle-ground. You either believe or you don't, whether you like it or not.

Secondly, no you don't have to respect one's belief.

Why would I respect a mental person that deserves to be in a looney bin? I'm sorry, but replace 'God' with 'John' and go tell a psychiatrist you've been speaking to John who's invisible and tells you he's the creator of the entire universe and you have to comply by his rules otherwise you will spend an eternity of torture.

There's also the part where they think I and other Atheists deserve to spend an eternity being tortured because we simply don't believe in something due to lack of evidence. Why would I respect that? I'm not going to.

I think that we believe in god because of the way we are raised mainly. Like me, I live in a a not so religious family, except for my mom, so I believe in god. Some people might come from a family that dosnt believe in god or aren't religious so they are atheist. Someone can also just simply choose to be atheist. I know there's not alot of "proof" that god exists, but I believe in him. People can chose not to beleove in him because they think science is the answer or because they are simply not religious, I don't care that much, but I respect people opinions on god.

It isn't flaming, its opinionated debate.
