well you can't really make it stop lagging. You need a good processor and decent ram. I would perfer a graphics card but you dont need one. I had a laptop but i sold it to get a gaming computer. you can try to reduce lag by going in to a world and hitting ESC--->Options--->Video Settings

And after your there you wanna change the render distance to Short or tiny
Change the graphics to fast
and you wanna keep it on the charger

you have to upgrade your pc, get more ram,better processor, and a new CPU

If you can't upgrade your computer with better RAM turn all the video settings lower. This means put your render distance on tiny, turn clouds off, and other things you think will impact performance.

For starters you can download Gamebooster. It closes all unnecessary programs running speeding it up.

You can update your video card drives and also make sure you're running the proper version of Java.

Besides that, you'd have to upgrade your PC.
