Synopsis:

Aside from everything else Mirror's Edge succeeds at, it also has some of the most arresting, original visuals we've seen on 360. Its starkly colorful graphics and slick anime cinematics are expressly designed to wire directly into your nerd-joy cortex - and they do. With such raw creativity and built-in speed-run appeal, Mirror's Edge will transfix you for a long, long time.

Synopsis Rating: 9.5

Story:

The story line starts out with a video explaining how the city was slowly tooken over by the government and now they moniter everything. Then it explains that there are a group of people called runners who use the flow of the citys rooftops to deliver messages for people who don't want the government to know about them. Then the voice explaining all this tells you shes a runner and it turns out to be your character. The start of the playable part of the game starts with another voice talking to you explaining how you got in a bad fall and you just got out of recover so you should take it easy and learn the basics again. So you go through the tutorial and learn everything and your off onto you first mission. You have to deliver a package to your fellow messenger cell so she can get it somewhere else. You go through all the stuff from the tutorial in real life and then some blues(cops) spot you and immediately start shooting. According to the voice talking this is not normal and you run away. You deliver the package and kill one or 2 blues along the way. So the story goes on with you trying to get your city back and uncovering alot more corrupt things about the city. The story is about 6 hours of game time so it's pretty short but fun. The story was original.

Story Rating: 9

Gameplay:

The gameplay is one of the funnest things about the game, I could play for hours just jumping, sliding and climbing around the city. It gives a very good portrayal of free running in real life. (Whats not fun about running up a crane and then jumping onto another one and sliding down it until you have to do a 50 foot jump to a soft mat?) The fighting in the game is the only thing that frustrated me. The game focused to much on the free running gameplay (which I have no problem with because its awesome) to be able to have a easy combat system. Getting someones gun away from them means pressing Y exactly when you see there gun turn red. No aiming down the sights which I hate in my opinion. In the end I love the gameplay because of the smooth flow of free running on the rooftops.

Gameplay Rating: 9

Graphics

The graphics sometimes make you feel like your in some sort of weird anime comic. They are smooth and nice but theres something about them that sometimes make you stop moving and stare. Every building always has a color theme and anything thats red is a sign of you needing to use it to get to where you need to go. In the end they are some of my favoite graphics from any game, except when you go out of the main path and look around at the city below. It can be really plain and boring.

Heres some examples of the graphics

Controls:

The controls are awesome, they are the best for what the game is about. After getting a good understanding of them and being able to react fast you will be able to get anywhere easily. After I played through the campaign and had a good grip on the control system I was easily able to beat all the time trial times for the achievements. The only part of the controls I really didnt like were the combat controls. They were confusing and hard to use. But other then that the controls are very fun to use.

Controls Rating: 8

Mirrors Edge is a very fun game if you like free running or just running from cops. The control system for going through through and over the city is nice and easy to get used to. The story is interesting and you will most likely enjoy it. The gameplay is addicting and fun and will keep you playing for a long time. The graphics are different from any other game I've seen but better then most. I suggest you go pick up a copy and enjoy it for yourself.

Overall Rating: 9/10 (Great game besides the graphics in areas)
