Morning All
I recently had my slim RGH'd and have installed Xexmenu, dashlaunch and freestyle dash and have been running a few games directly off an external usb HDD.
I've noticed after a while of gaming...i get a freeze and cant really do much bar turn the xbox off and on again. Looking on FD, the temps seem to be getting quite high
Still a newb and have seen the manual fan setting within FD and its currently set to AUTO.
Should this be on a different setting? (It does get pretty loud if on anything above auto) or do i need to install something else? boot bypass's ms dash and st8 into FD
The actual Xbox was brand new prior to j'tag - a 4gig base model if this makes any difference and i've added a 20gig internal drive for game saves/FD etc...everything else is off an ext usb HDD
Any help appreciated Thanks

Go to xex menu and turn the fan speed up or go buy a fan and put it somewhere it can help cool it off.

Thanks for feedback guys!
The 4gig is the default MS one
The 20gig internal addition is one of these:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The 750gb external HDD is one of these:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Whats the optimal fanspeed then...seem to have a slider from 65% to 100%
And erm...does everyone who Jtags their machine need external fans or put up with their boxes sounding like hairdryers then?
Should the fan not just kick in anyway when needed, rather then being on allthe time...dont seem right really??

I run my fans at 100% but I have X12's so the sound doesn't bother me.

If i ran it at 100%, i'd have to keep it outside and find a really long HDMI cable
Still not sure 100% about this, could something be knackered already on the new unit? Why would it overheat in the first place?

Setting the fan to auto is fine. If the xbox senses its above proper temps it will speed the fan up.also, jtagged consles run no hotter than there retail counterparts and you dont see people being all concerned about the temps on retails (cause u cant see them) people just get all worked up over the tempuratures on a jtag because u can actually see them. But most likely if you slim is freezing and your fans are set to auto its likely not an overheating problem.
