My friend wasted his tokens on this and he only got x2 xp...

That wouldn't of ever worked because of a few reasons.

XP received from specialist perks or specialist bonuses were NOT doubled or quadrupled, they were kept constant at 150 XP whenever you earned one. And second, Why only one perk? You could use hardline with specialist the normal way and get a perk every other kill,earning the 150 for every other instead of 100 for being on a specialist bonus. Then, if you did get on a specialist bonus, you would be getting the same amount of XP that you were talking about, with still gaining more on the way to the specialist bonus.

And technically, you could have planted a bomb on search and gotten 2000 XP with double xp from a prestige token on, and earned a perk giving you 2150. As well, a kill on search would be 2000 with 4x xp, 2150 if you earned a peark, and 4000 for a headshot, 4150 if you earned a perk.


Finally, even if you could get 8x xp, double xp from IW, prestige token double xp, and perk bonus double xp wouldn't ever add up to 8x. Think of it as doubling the base xp and adding it together. Say you got a kill with all these things together. 50 base xp if you are playing an objective game type, doubled to 100 from IW. Then doubled from Prestige token for another 100. And since it doesn't happen anyways, but if it did, the specialist double xp would add another 100. Making it 300 for the kill in total which is 6x instead of 8x. But since you couldn't get it that high you could only have gotten double xp form IW and your prestige token, for 4x xp maximum.
