^^kinda what i'm thinking - i dont mind the console getting hot...but i could get a freeze within a half hour of play these days which is silly and a tad pointless
I've had it nearly one month since it was chipped, and prior to that it was brand new with about an hours use max
The temps are in the 70's like BTW...and thats after a crash, switching it off and back on and then checking temps via FD

jtags do overheat if you use them for a long time and cause rrod but if you go into xex menu you can change the speed of the fan or you can go on ebay or a jtag shop on here and buy a external fan they are about 10-15 dollars

Its not uncommon for a xbox slim to get e82 or freeze or red dot of death, i have fixed numerous slims that have gpu errors.
Since your dealing with a rgh, i would first check your wiring posistioning, it make a huge difference.
try different posistions on the board mailnly want to focus on wires on the underside.
good luck

Got no idea on the wiring side of this or how to open the box up, so cant say i'm looking forward to this really after just getting it done
In terms of temps, these are the read outs after 10mins boot from cold with no game play etc, fan setting on AUTO...
CPU: 60.5 c
GPU: 57.2 c
MEM: 53.3 c
Case:30.6 c
Is this norm?
Also it was mentioned the fan could be swapped - Is there a preffered one thats more powerful yet kinda quiet too?

Well since March...sadly not allots changed, units still dud! Spoke to the chap who did the coolrunner jobby and agreed to get it back there, but due to personal commitments he couldn't do it st8 way and the unit only went back earlier this month. No biggie, I was alright to wait as the main thing was just getting it sorted properly and tbh i thought it best just having the one set of hands messing with the the unit.
Well went back and it was confirmed that it was getting hot and fix was having cool runner off and put back on which had apparently sorted issue
Gr8 i thought, but when i got it back, fired it up to find another bigger issue It now will just crash/freeze within a min or so being on. The longest i got was upto loading up a game...only for it to freeze (about 3mins)
I have no idea if it still has the overheating issue as cant stay on long enough to find out, but guess that's neither here nor there at the moe. I done a little google and cause might be a solder issue but I've got no idea
Could it be s.w related? I'm using Freestyle dash as launcher, but assume thats the norm? It worked ok before and all the games are same as previously and although on a worst case something was corrupt, disk based games fair no better at the moe
Mailed the seller a couple times and had no reply yet - I'll hold out little longer (might be on hols or something, mentioned starting new job) but been 10days and patience running little slim. I'm so out of pocket with this xbox at the moe its just silly
