no i would just open the tray take the disk out and blow in the gap
after that there should be a little wheel inside just spin that a little and put your disk in then close it

if the tray doesnt open bang it on top or try that anyway that happened to my mates xbox unplug everything try that and keep hitting top of xbox near disktray while it is closing if not i dontknw get a new xboxor clean it like you said if thats anyhelp

Hey guys, Trust me this is no scam. I feel bad that people think the only way to fix the open tray error is to either open the console, which voids warrenty, or tap on it. I found a way that if you attach a string to a CD and use it as a rip cord while the disc is in the console, you can unjam the stuck parts and get the XBOX back to perfect working condition, here is the video I made the other day. I made it because I was tired of others having to send it in for microsoft to repair a $20 problem for 50-120 dollars depending on where you live. Hope the video helps!
