With a pure, you dont need skills apart from quest requirements, I would recommend what skill requirements you need for your pure for quests and mini-quests. and aim to get them first, Then once that is done work on your stats, I enjoyed my old pure getting the stats achieved and stuff. but then and only then should you start combat.

TIP: In combat always make sure you check what attack style you are using.
