this is a retail that tried to update to the first kinect dashboard a while back and failed. it says to insert a device and continue the update but nothing happens.

Getting a usb with the update on it doesnt work
Calling microsoft as usual they did nothing

anyone have any ideas on how to fix this Note: cant access dashboard at all

This may not work but its worth a try, I remember reading somewhere that if you hold the sync button while powering on it will reset any failed updates.
(may take a few seconds longer to boot)
hope it works

I tried that it doesnt even clear the update like its supposed to i still get the error or if the usb with the update is in i just get a black screen?

Done a bit of digging and found out that you need to put the files from the update that originally wrecked your machine. Check the bottom of the screen for a PV or CV version. PV = Previous version and CV = current version
You need the update from the current version stick it on a usb thats been fat32 formatted and it should flash the update

there is no version number but ik what the update was and it brings up the loading sign then freezes
